What to Expect

 First Time?
Here’s What to Expect.

PART ONE: INTAKE

If you’ve never experienced acupuncture with us before, you should be prepared that the first treatment is rather extensive. We have a lot of questions to ask, and we want to know the most we possibly can about you. This is not avoidable, this is to ensure that we treat you in the best possible way, and sometimes that takes a little Sherlock Holmes style detective work.

It is important to note that even though you have a primary complaint that you will without a doubt come in with,  the true solution to your problem is in identifying the root cause. That root can be anything, and a lot of the time clients are amazed to hear that seemingly unrelated events are actually greatly contributing to their main issues at hand.

PART TWO: DIAGNOSIS

In addition to questioning, multiple methods of diagnosis will be performed to get your body’s direct feedback. This includes examination of the abdomen, pulse, tongue, and an assessment of your chakras—energy centers in the body.

With a diagnosis, we can get to work so that your best treatment plan can be determined.

PART THREE: TREATMENT

Here is the place where it is really important to work your magical powers of “letting go and surrender”. With acupuncture, needles are not always placed in the spots you think they will be. There are points all over the body and for many different conditions, the most effective treatment is actually not always local (in the spot of the problem and/or pain).

For instance, points on your feet may be used even if you have eye pain, and points on your back may be used if your stomach is bothering you. If you’re lucky enough you may even get a mirror treatment where the opposite side of the body is used! Trust. Trust. Trust. There is a method to the madness, this is something that will undoubtedly be completely foreign to many of you, it was to me at my first session as well, it is something you really have to give in to and surrender.

PART FOUR: POST-TREATMENT

Any “follow-ups” or “rechecks” will be made, commonly you will be asked how your problem has shifted, especially if your main complaint is  musculoskeletal (pain)  in nature. Then we will go over what I think is best for you in terms of regularity and frequency of appointments.

I will always be honest with you and tell you what is best for you from a standpoint that is removed from busy schedules and/or financial obligations. Please feel free to make  this into an open dialogue; I am more than happy to work with you and find the most effective  plan of action that works best for all parties involved.
